On our trip to Stevenage we drove through the village of Wimpole and stopped to admire these gates.
They are so imposing and beautiful, we wondered what lay behind them. The stag and lion are in very good condition. It reminds me of the entrance to a French château that we saw in France.
This house is opposite the gates and must be wonderful to live in, the windows are fantastic, I love imaging what the inside looks like. There is even a lion and stag crest above the door to match the ones on the gateposts.

When we got home I did some google research (I love the info you can find on the computer) The gates are the side entrance to Wimpole Hall, the largest house in Cambridgeshire. It belongs to the National Trust so as soon as we have a free weekend we are going to have to go and visit. There are some more photos and info on wikipedia if you want to look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wimpole_Hall

That house is fabulous, Megan! Thank you so much for sharing. As soon as I get done her I'm going to go and follow your link to read more.

My Mollie is OK! She ate somethingy thing! :( Some vermin no doubt. I'm telling everyone who will listen she is no longer allowed in potty-land without me standing watch!
